Our why

“Women should be in all the places where decisions are being made.” - Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Today’s girls represent humanity’s greatest untapped talent pool. Investing in girls will produce the greatest return in economic development, social progress, and public health, improving girls’ individual lives and having a lasting impact on their communities, our nation, and the world. However, according to the World Economic Forum, at the current rate of progress, it will take until the year 2133 to close the gender gap. We can’t afford to wait this long - our girls deserve better.

This year we’re launching our Campaign for Girls with the goal of raising $300,000 over the next two years to expand and enhance our programming, expand the Girl Scout experience to underserved and underrepresented girls, outfit a Mobile STEM Lab, and create a state-of-the-art Maker’s Space.

Women make up 50.8% of the U.S. population, but fall way behind in equal representation in all areas both public and private:

  • Only 4.6% of CEOs on the Fortune 500 are women

  • 1 in 4 girls is sexually abused before her 18th Birthday

  • Only 30% of state court judges are female

  • Only 24% of scientists & engineers in the U.S. are women
